Friend — I'm going to be straight with you.

I just got out of a three-hour committee hearing. I can't tell you everything that was said in that room, but I will tell you this — at one point I looked around at my colleagues on the other side of the aisle and thought to myself, "Lord, these people would argue with a stop sign."

And then I came back to my office, sat down, loosened my tie, and thought — I need to talk to somebody normal.

So here I am.

Now I don't know you yet. But I've got a pretty good feeling about you. Call it a hunch. You found your way to my little corner of the internet, which tells me something. People who end up here usually have two things in common: good sense and a low tolerance for nonsense.

I respect that. Deeply.
