Email from Louisiana Democrats Your support during our darkest days has propelled a Democrat to within 4 points of flipping Louisiana’s US Senate seat John, On April 29th, 2026, the Supreme Court issued their infamous Callais v. Louisiana verdict — the single greatest rollback of civil rights in America since the darkest days of Jim Crow. In their majority opinion, the court ruled to gut the Voting Rights Act of key protections for minority voters and restore Jim Crow style gerrymandering across the deep south. Immediately Louisiana’s far-right Governor sprung into action and declared a ‘state of emergency’ cancelling our elections and giving the Louisiana state legislature time to successfully erase one of our only Black majority districts. In response, we reached out to Democrats across the nation with an urgent call for support. They answered. We raised nearly $2,000,000 in less than two weeks. Now that critical support is bearing fruit, a newly released poll shows Democrat for US Senate Jamie Davis trailing the GOP Nominee Julia Letlow by 4 PTS: Their ironfisted coup attempt is backfiring. In the first election that followed the Callais decision voters showed in force to defeat all five of the amendments backed by Louisiana's MAGA governor in a landslide by over 20 pts. It was termed a ‘blacklash’ to the reintroduction of Jim Crow policies in Louisiana. Now, we’ve gone from the brink of the extinction of Democratic power in Louisiana to the verge of flipping a Deep South US Senate seat — all thanks to the tens of thousands of Democrats from every corner of this country who came to our aid during our darkest days. In case you don’t know Jamie, he is a successful farmer from rural Louisiana working the same delta soil that his grandfather worked as a sharecropper. When he wins in November he will be the first Black man ever elected to US Senate in Louisiana history. The Louisiana Democratic Party is working in lockstep with Jamie’s campaign and we just held a statewide bus tour of all of Louisiana’s 60 Parishes (what we call counties in Louisiana) to get Jamie in front of voters across the state. We are catalyzing the backlash and Louisiana is ready to go Blue. We are registering voters, running ads, knocking doors, and doing everything in our power to get Jamie along with our slate of Democratic candidates across the finish line this November. The Louisiana Democratic Party is among the least funded Democratic parties in the nation. To flip Louisiana blue we need your support. Please can you donate $25, $10, or even just $5, to harness the backlash against MAGA to flip Louisiana and reclaim the US Senate?
