ICE roundups with unprecedented brutality. Black sites where migrants disappear across rural Louisiana. A new plan to hold migrants at Angola — Louisiana’s most notorious and dangerous prison. Jail time for driving someone over state lines for an abortion, ordering an abortion pill, and even for out of state doctors.
They run their tests on us, work out the kinks, and then they ship out the final product to the nation. However, decades of this abuse combined with astronomical gas prices have turned Louisiana into a powder keg that threatens to upend their cruel system and flip LA blue.
My name is Dadrius Lanus and 9 months ago I became Executive Director for the Louisiana Democratic Party. After years of ceding ground, Democrats are back on the offensive.
Just months ago, in a special election, a Democrat in a deep red MAGA county that went for Trump by 13 points defeated a Trump endorsed Republican in a landslide 37 point over performance. It was the first win delivered by Organize Louisiana - a cutting edge new precinct organizing program to have folks on the ground who can fight in every single one of Louisiana’s 4000+ precincts.
And for the first time in years we have a Democrat contesting every red federal seat this year: Conrad Cable taking on Speaker Mike Johnson in LA-04, Lauren Jewett taking on Steve Scalise in LA-01, John Day taking on Clay Higgins in LA-03, and Jessee Fleenor taking on Julia Letlow in LA-05, and Jamie Davis – our Democratic candidate running for U.S. Senate against Senator Bill Cassidy
When we compete everywhere we win. I am not being facetious when I say that if we continue to fight with this vigor, we can flip multiple red Louisiana Congressional seats along with our US Senate Seat, as well as break the GOP super majority in the Louisiana State House and Senate.
But we are going to need help from Democrats across the country to pull this off. We are among the least funded Democratic state parties in the nation so even just $25, $10, or even $5, will have a seismic impact for a growing party like ours - the amount doesn’t matter because they will add up.
