The Federal Railroad Administration awarded Amtrak more than $696 million in federal funding for Chicago projects, including a project to revitalize Chicago Union Station.

Safe, affordable, and accessible rail travel is critical to Chicago's and the Illinois region's success. This grant will modernize passenger rail service in our area for the millions of people who utilize these services. I'm pleased this grant will help address dangerous disrepair in our system and improve access to safe, efficient rail service for Chicagoland residents for years to come. I will continue working with my colleagues in the House and Senate to bring home even more funding for public transit in our communitites.

Moldy showers. Food shortages. Poor hygiene. 5,000 U.S. service members have been stuck on the USS Lincoln for nine months, with no end in sight to their deployment.

Trump promised to end America’s endless wars—not start another one. Our troops are engaged in a war with no clear end, no strategy, and no justification worth asking them to bear this burden. We need to bring our troops home and end this pointless war.

On CNN this week, I talked with Sara Sidner about Trump's secret flight from Turkey. Trump used an old Air Force One - loaded with staff, reporters, and his own cabinet members - as a decoy when he fled Turkey. No one on board was told that their lives were at risk or were given the option to leave, and Trump kept the American people in the dark about all of it for weeks. He's still trying to hide the truth.
 
Let's be clear: this dangerous situation all comes down to Trump. The threat existed because Trump started an illegal war with Iran. And his decision to accept a $400 million Qatari jet as a bribe, sticking the American people with an Air Force One that isn't up to snuff, put his life and the lives of those around him at risk.
