POV's Documentary Legacy
Streaming August 14 - September 30
Join POV ([link removed]) and Kanopy ([link removed]) as we begin our journey down The Road to 40 towards the landmark 40th season of POV!
POV and Kanopy have long shared an affinity for high quality documentary films and for making them accessible for free to audiences and communities around the country. With this unique partnership, we have co-curated a retrospective to celebrate the upcoming 40th anniversary of POV, telling our story through the films we have brought to broadcast on PBS since 1988. Founded in 2008, Kanopy has become an internationally recognized streaming platform providing an unrivaled collection of films, TV series, and documentaries to participating libraries and universities allowing their users to ‘Stream Smarter’. With our parallel streaming collections available across both Kanopy and POV platforms, this retrospective revisits past locations and profiles the extraordinary individuals featured in our work, while looking ahead to the next generation of independent film in an evolving public media landscape.

Co-presented with KET ([link removed])
As summer draws to a close, we have one more road trip to take!
Through the imaginative lens of POV filmmakers we’ll traverse the country, covering land, sea, heading over cascading mountains, and into neighborhoods of sprawling cities.
Each place on our journey is marked by its distinctive culture, look and feel and by its own history. Set amidst a rapidly changing present Every Town Has a Story ([link removed]) brings together films for the curious armchair traveller itching to explore the patchwork of the United States and discover what makes these places tick, what gives them life, and how communities come together.
The collection features the POV short film People Could Fly ([link removed]) , an intimate portrait of Louisville, Kentucky’s close knit roller skating community as a new generation hits the rink.
