Today, the PCCC is endorsing Elijah Manley for Congress in Florida's 20th
District. His primary against Debbie Wasserman Schultz is next Tuesday,
and voting has already started.
Elijah is a substitute teacher running as an unapologetic economic
populist on Medicare for All, a federal jobs guarantee, and "an economy
where workers have rights, working families can thrive, and the wealthy
pay their fair share."
Debbie Wasserman Schultz represents the Democratic establishment. She
doesn't even live in the majority-minority district she's running in, and
Black leaders have criticized her for running there.

Elijah grew up homeless in Fort Lauderdale's historic Sistrunk community.
He isn't just talking about the fight for working people – he's lived it.
The most recent public poll in this race showed Wasserman Schultz leading
the field with 39% to Elijah's 21%. Normally, that would put this race
into longshot territory. But the poll also showed that once voters were
given basic biographical information about the candidates, Elijah moved
into the lead, 36% to 27%!
That poll was months ago, in May, and his campaign has been hammering at
that ever since to make sure voters have that crucial information. What he
needs between now and Tuesday is the money to make sure the voters that
now have it actually turn out and vote.
