When we met her last summer, Inas was pregnant, living in a tent, and struggling to feed herself and care for her children.

Luckily, a UNFPA midwife was there for Inas, helping her safely deliver her baby—a feat considering how pervasive life-threatening pregnancy complications have become in Gaza. She also received nutritional supplements to help her breastfeed her newborn and recover from birth.

Inas would never have gotten the care she needed without the support of donors and UNFPA aid workers. We can’t forget about her and the women and girls in Gaza who still need our support.

Today, Inas is celebrating her baby’s first birthday, but she’s still waiting for things to get better:

* There is more food than during the famine conditions last summer, but 3 out of 4 people in Gaza still don’t have enough to eat. With no safe place to store food, rats and mold take much of it, meaning families like Inas’s often go hungry.

* The ceasefire has slowed the attacks but not stopped them . More than 90% of homes are destroyed, and Inas's family is still living in a tattered tent that lets pests in and traps the summer heat.

* There isn’t enough clean water for Inas’s family, and many people are living on less than half of the water they need to survive. Inas and her children are chronically dehydrated and living with rashes from dirty water, heat, and bites from pests they can't escape.
