Happy Rescue Anniversary, Hilda!

Hilda video thumbnail

34 years ago, Farm Sanctuary President and Co-founder Gene Baur rescued a live sheep from a pile of dead animals during an investigation of the historic Lancaster Stockyard in Pennsylvania. That discarded sheep, named Hilda, was the start of Farm Sanctuary and the beginning of the farm animal sanctuary movement of today.

Her story went on to inspire decades of rescue, education, and advocacy work that we carry on today in honor of her memory.
