Helping Jewish Students and their Families Have a Great School Year

Every student deserves to feel safe and included. Their families should feel heard and supported. And educators should have the trustworthy resources they need to effectively teach about challenging topics. That’s not too much to ask...

ADL is continuing our essential work to make this happen — reaching more students, more teachers and more school communities with the tools to confront antisemitism and educate about hate. We want to alert you about several major new reports and tools.

For campus concerns, ADL’s new

๐Ÿ› Speak Out: Jewish students need your support, and the bipartisan Jewish American Security Act does three key things to help these students. The legislation, which ADL helped develop, gives schools access to training and resources so they can better prevent and respond to antisemitism. It creates a dedicated Antisemitism Coordinator in the Department of Education to lead federal efforts. And it establishes a new clearinghouse, so schools have one place to find best practices and safety guidance to protect Jewish students.

Summer U program held in Portugal for hundreds of Jewish students that was hosted by an ADL partner, the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS). We also participated in the summit’s Opportunity Bazaar, where we lifted up our Words to Action (WTA) program. This coming academic year, ADL aims to broaden the already substantial impact of WTA in Europe. Sessions are being planned in more than 10 countries.

MAKING PROGRESS WITH ADL

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ ADL continues to convene important conversations about antisemitism. Recently, ADL Michigan co-hosted a first-of-its-kind roundtable on antisemitism with Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, bringing together Jewish community members for a candid conversation about the impact of rising anti-Jewish hate. Participants shared powerful personal stories about how recent incidents have affected their lives and communities, while Nessel spoke openly about her own experiences with antisemitism.

She also shared that she will not attend the Michigan Democratic Party’s August convention because she does not feel safe there, citing concerns about harassment and saying, “I feel like my presence isn’t going to be welcome.” Nessel reaffirmed her commitment to addressing antisemitism, and the discussion underscored the importance of continued partnership between community leaders and public officials.

@ADL

Susan Abulhawa is not just a novelist. She is an anti-Israel activist with a documented record of antisemitic rhetoric: calling Jews and Israelis “rootless, soulless ghouls,” “Jewish supremacist demons” and “demonic parasites.” She has praised Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and glorified Hamas. And just a few weeks ago, she claimed the Jews had “boasted and taken credit for Germany’s defeat” in WW1, a myth the Nazis used incite anti-Jewish hatred and justify the Holocaust. Now, @SimonSchuster is republishing two of her books. Let’s take a look at what’s in them. ๐Ÿงต

I’m so excited to share what we just mounted in the lobby of the @ADL offices in New York City: an archival pigment print of the stone engraving of the Declaration of Independence. I’m incredibly grateful to @DM_Rubenstein for gifting us this beautiful piece at #NeverIsNow 2026. It’s a daily reminder of why we do this work in the first place and of the values we’re working to protect. As an American, a Jew, and a Zionist, I’m especially proud to have this on our wall.

@ADL

DSA co-chair Megan Romer just gave a jaw dropping interview to @NewYorker's David Remnick. What she said and doubled down on in this interview should concern every American. Because this kind of hateful and demonizing rhetoric against the only Jewish state in the world goes well beyond criticism of a government or its policies, and it puts every Jewish American at risk. We’ve seen this far too often. ๐Ÿงต
