Trump’s new public health adviser, Dr. Scott Atlas, has no background in infectious diseases or epidemiology, and he is urging the White House to embrace “herd immunity” -- a strategy that killed thousands in Europe.
The effects in the U.S. would be much worse. According to the Washington Post, 2.13 million Americans would need to die for us to reach the immunity rate necessary for herd immunity.
When asked about herd immunity, Dr. Anthony Fauci said, “if everyone got infected, the death toll would be enormous and totally unacceptable.”
It looks like Dr. Fauci is focused on protecting as many Americans as possible -- while Trump’s team is backing dangerous public health strategies that prioritize money over American families.
