Biden makes gains on Trump with online ad blitz

Democratic nominee Joe Biden is spending more than ever before on online ads, replicating a strategy that helped propel President Donald Trump to the White House.

Biden’s joint fundraising committee, Biden Victory Fund, spent at least $24 million on Facebook and Google ads in the month of August alone, making it the fifth-highest spending online political advertiser. That’s according to OpenSecrets’ new online ads database that tracks political spending on the two platforms.

** Wisconsin donors backing Trump over Biden as president visits Kenosha
------------------------------------------------------------
President Donald Trump is bringing in more campaign cash from Wisconsin than his Democratic rival Joe Biden. He’s also far more popular among donors in Kenosha, the Midwestern city that is the scene of unrest and violence following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Trump raised $3.3 million from Wisconsin donors to Biden’s $2.2 million through the end of July, according to OpenSecrets’ Get Local database. Trump has a campaign cash advantage in nearly every Wisconsin metro area. Trump raised double that of Biden from Kenosha donors. He also raised $1.2 million in the Milwaukee metro area to Biden’s $664,000.

** Ernst statistically tied in Iowa as outside groups outspend her on the airwaves
------------------------------------------------------------
It was the gritful, feel-good story arc of Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) — a farm girl, who overcame adversity to put herself through school — that helped her win in 2014. Reelection seemed probable in Iowa’s Senate race. But Democrats nominated a farm girl of their own — and outside groups took At one time an employer for her father’s crop-dusting business, Theresa Greenfield — now a real estate developer — has staked her campaign on hallmark New Deal-era policies popular with voters. As a young widow, Greenfield relied on Social Security survivor benefits.
