Hi John,
This year’s Summer Reading Challenge delivered exactly what we hoped for: more queer stories, more queer authors, and a reading list that kept getting bigger.
We started with six incredible LGBTQ+ authors. Then we asked them what they were reading, who inspired them, and which queer books more people should know about. Those recommendations led us to even more writers and stories. Our friends at Queer Liberation Library jumped in with a list of their own, helping us build a final summer reading list that stretches far beyond the six books we started with.
You can explore the full list [[link removed]] along with all of our author interviews now at itgetsbetter.org [[link removed]].
John, we know you understand the power of a good story. Will you donate today [[link removed]] to help us power the next generation of storytellers?
A few of the authors we featured also shared something with us privately that meant a lot: It Gets Better was part of their own story. They found us while coming out, exploring their identities, and imagining what their lives might become. Years later, they’re writing the books that could help another LGBTQ+ young person do the same.
That is why storytelling still matters so much to us.
This Saturday, August 15, the Summer Reading Challenge comes to a close, which means this is your last chance to donate [[link removed]]. Funds raised help It Gets Better give LGBTQ+ young people the tools, training, and opportunities to write, create, and share stories of their own, paying it forward to another generation.
Because seeing yourself in someone else’s story can change what you believe is possible. Writing your own can change even more.
Thanks for reading with us.
