Team, the COVID-19 crisis is testing our beloved downtowns like never before. From our neighborhood restaurants and bars, to our live music venues—they are hurting right now.

But these local spots are the lifeblood of our communities. They act as our cultural, social, and economic hubs throughout Vermont, and without them, our downtowns would be unrecognizable.

We can’t allow these places to shutter. That’s why I’ve introduced legislation—the RESTAURANTS ACT and the Save Our Stages Act—to provide a lifeline to Vermont venues during these hard times. These bills will create grant programs to help small businesses cover operating costs, rent and mortgage payments, personal protective equipment for employees, and more.

I will continue to fight for Vermont's small businesses during these tough times because they are so much of what makes Vermont special. After all, there is nothing like Prohibition Pig’s brisket; Honey Road’s warm, house-made pita; or our homegrown talent taking to the stage at Higher Ground.

Right now though, I want to hear from you, team. What are some of your favorite local spots? Let me know in this short survey:

I’m always looking for new places to try (masked and from a safe distance), new small business owners to meet, and hard working Vermonters to connect with!

Can’t wait to hear from you,

Peter
