A student who understands the tax code has an advantage that most of their
peers won't have.

They'll understand…

* Why a sales tax holiday isn’t good policy
* That tax brackets don’t work the way most people think
* How the tax choices made in state capitals and in Washington affect their
own future paycheck, tuition bill, or small business
That kind of literacy shapes how someone votes, how they manage their
finances, and how well they can distinguish sound policy from a political
talking point.

Most students won't get any of that in a classroom.

Personal finance and economics requirements vary widely from state to state,
and even where they exist, the tax code rarely gets more than a passing
mention. Most of what students find is either buried in a textbook, locked
behind a paid course, or shaped by whoever is doing the explaining.
