Just wanted to follow up on Joe’s email to you yesterday.

He let you know that unless we raise $15,000 before tomorrow at midnight, we might have to cut down our media plan significantly. And, John, he made it clear that in a race as close as ours, we literally can’t afford to fall behind.

As this team’s finance director, I wanted to take a step back to talk about what’s at stake when anyone from our campaign reaches out to you about a fundraising goal.

Here’s the deal: Every campaign has different revenue streams. What that means is that our specific fundraising asks of you -- our grassroots donors -- are different than those of, say, Gil’s colleagues in the House. I want to make sure that’s clear, John, because I could understand that it’s easy to feel discouraged about the impact of contributing $5 towards a $15,000 goal.
