Friends, voter suppression doesn't always look the way you might expect. Here's what I mean:

Of course, voter suppression can take the form of literacy tests or poll taxes. It can look like extreme voter identification laws, like the SAVE Act. It can be law enforcement showing up to polling stations to scare voters, a threat we’ve seen made lately. 

But it can also look like what’s happening right now in North Carolina, where I live. Here, a new state Board of Elections rule will make it easier for ballots to be thrown out along party lines. In the Tar Heel State, we’ve also seen suppression unfold when local election boards close early voting sites at college campuses and popular urban locations.

All of this is because anti-democracy forces know that when fewer people show up to vote, they win. We refuse to let them get their way. We're monitoring every anti-voter effort at play today and fighting back with everything we've got.
