September 2020 Newsletter

Now that school is in full swing, Fulfillment Fund is preparing for our annual Destination College+ <[link removed]> equity-focused college access and success conference, taking place on October 11th through 14th. From 9th Grade through college, we orient students with the steps they need to take to stay on their pathway to go to and graduate from college.

The pandemic has given Destination College+ the opportunity to scale across Los Angeles and beyond, and this year we will host it as a nationwide all-virtual conference. Schools and presenters from across the country, as well as students, will be joining us for the four-day virtual event. We’re excited to announce our Keynote speaker, Adrian H. Huerta Ph.D. , whose research focuses on boys and young men of color, college access and equity, particularly with Latinx youth. We will also be hosting 20 workshops to help students as well as parents with specific topics on college and career readiness.

During this important moment in education, the Fulfillment Fund is focusing our efforts on Impact, Scalability, and Sustainability. That’s why we are investing in resource-efficient programs built on our proven model that propels student success, collaborating with other organizations to see where we can join forces to provide even greater supports, and partnering with the donor community — foundations, companies, and individuals just like you — to make college a reality for even more students. Without you, none of this would be possible.

First Weeks Back

It’s been two weeks since the school year began for our high school students, and they have transitioned to a completely virtual semester. Our Director of College Access Programs, Diane Angulo, pens her experience working with students in a socially distant world. Read her blog <[link removed]>.
