SEN. MCCONNELL RECEIVES ENDORSEMENT FROM KENTUCKY FOP, CALLS OUT 'NUTTY NOTION' TO DEFUND THE POLICE
Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell has received the endorsement from the Kentucky Fraternal Order of the Police. "I think that Kentuckians and Americans are intelligent enough to draw a distinction between peaceful protesting and constitutionally protected activity, and rioting and looting and tearing down statues," said Senator McConnell. McConnell referred to the tearing down of statues of historical figures, including George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, as "mindless behavior." "The American people, I think, fully understand that most police officers are honest, upright people doing an extremely difficult job and enjoy our respect," said Senator McConnell. MCGRATH ABSENT AS MCCONNELL DESCRIBES ‘UTTER CONTEMPT’ DEMOCRATS HAVE FOR RURAL AMERICA
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was in Louisville Monday for what was has traditionally been a back and forth between senatorial candidates, but Monday he was on stage alone. Democratic candidate Amy McGrath declined her invitation to take part in the Kentucky Farm Bureau Senate Candidate Forum. “I think the fact that my opponent is not here indicates the utter contempt that democrats have for rural America these days,” McConnell said. Speaking at Monday’s forum for the seventh time as a candidate, McConnell said it’s the first time his opponent has declined to appear. McConnell added that Washington is more divided than he’s seen it in a long time and the way to fix it is not with a rookie senator without the necessary knowledge on how to get legislation passed. SENATE MAJORITY LEADER MITCH MCCONNELL VISITS HOPKINSVILLE
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell visited Hopkinsville on Tuesday afternoon to highlight the impact of the CARES Act at Jennie Stuart Health and to discuss the possibility of additional aid. According to a release from the senator’s office, Jennie Stuart has received $9.3 million in coronavirus funding from the federal health care provider fund. McConnell also noted a $14.7 million loan the hospital secured from the CMS Accelerated and Advanced Payment Program as well as $4 million from the state’s Medicaid settlement. “We were literally involved in trying to prop up the entire American economy for a period of time — a Herculean time,” McConnell said about his work introducing the $2.2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. McConnell went on to say that federal legislators continue to work on another economic stimulus plan for the country; however, he said “partisan passions” have gotten in the way of getting the bill passed as the general election approaches.
