Daily Beast: GOP Rep. Bragged About Postal Service Rescue, Didn't Support It
Rep. Mike Garcia wasn't even in Congress when one of the bills he touted passed -- but nearly all of his Republican colleagues voted against it.

Here's the truth: Republicans like Mike Garcia are doing everything they can to undermine the U.S. Postal Service ahead of the 2020 elections.

But Mike Garcia has been telling his constituents something different. When they contact their representative with concerns about the USPS, Mike touts House-passed bills that provide funding for the essential service.

Except those bills -- the Heroes Act and the Moving Forward Act -- passed without Republican support. Republicans voted overwhelmingly against the Heroes Act before Mike was sworn in, and only three GOP House members voted for the Moving Forward Act in July. Mike wasn't one of them.

It took Mike less than four months to become the worst kind of politician -- a hypocrite and a liar. We can't let him get away with it.

By pretending to support funding the USPS when it's politically convenient, Mike Garcia is just showing that he's the worst kind of politician -- one who knows right from wrong, but won't vote accordingly because he's too afraid of angering his special-interest donors and powerful party leaders.

Republicans like Mike and Donald Trump know that mail-in voting expands access to folks who would otherwise be disenfranchised, and they don't want those people to cast a ballot -- because when more of us vote, Democrats win.

Mike is trying to have it both ways.

If this is how low he's willing to sink -- lying to constituents about suppressing their vote -- then we have to step up our game even more to overcome his efforts.
