The summit offered business leaders the opportunity to hear from our local elected leaders about the economic climate in the region, new and ongoing initiatives aimed at bolstering economic growth, and how each jurisdiction in Northern Virginia can work together for the betterment of the regional economy. The Arlington Chamber of Commerce hosted this summit with premier partner, the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and co-hosts, Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, Prince William Chamber of Commerce, and Northern Virginia Regional Commission. Chamber President & CEO Interviewed about UMD's New Discovery Center Near Amazon HQ Chamber President & CEO, Kate Bates, was interviewed by Cory Smith from NBC4 News on Wednesday, August 21. The interview was about the University of Maryland’s (UMD) new Discovery Center located near Amazon’s second headquarters in Arlington. The University plans to open the center to help connect students and faculty to the emerging tech hub fostered by Amazon’s move. UMD is joining a strong network of colleges, universities, and educational institutions with a presence in Arlington.
