When pundits do the “Monday Quarterbacking” and look at what demographics voted where in this insurgent wave, the generational tidal wave is often ignored.
Millennials are not punk kids anymore. We’re grown adults with mortgages and kids. My generation is starting to be decisive at the polls.
And there is real anger at having been ignored, sidelined, having our economic futures mortgaged by the generations that came before us — on everything from the economy to climate.
We’re taking the reins. And we know that we don't have to live like this anymore.
We can make a new world, a better country, where we can fight for the dignity of all people. And it looks like living wages, stable housing, and guaranteed health care.
We will and must do away with the power of big money. And that is why, even as a waitress with a long shot campaign, I decided that I would never take money from lobbyists or corporations — and I never will.
