Happy Thursday, Fellow Democrats!
We are now 61 days away from electing a new President of the United States!
THIS WEEK WITH JOE BIDEN
- Today, Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, will hold a community meeting in Kenosha, Wisconsin to bring together Americans to heal and address the challenges we face. He will also meet with the family of Jacob Blake.
- Vice President Biden delivered powerful remarks in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this week strongly condemning violence and asked if Americans really feel safe under President Trump. Watch the full speech HERE.
- Joe Biden delivered remarks on how Trump’s failure to address COVID-19 is impacting students, educators, and children, and his plan to safely and effectively reopen schools. You can watch HERE and read his plan to reopen safely HERE.
- Joe Biden penned an op ed in the Las Vegas Spectrum calling attention to the Trump Administration’s attacks on the LGBTQ+ community.
- 81 U.S. Nobel Laureates in science and medicine endorsed Joe Biden for president— the largest number of Nobel Prize winners ever to endorse a candidate for office. In their open letter, these esteemed individuals cited Joe Biden’s “deep appreciation for using science to find solutions, long record of making policy, informed by science, and pro-science agenda and sensible approach to public health decisions” as reasons for their endorsement.
DEMOCRATIC HEADQUARTERS’ VISITORS
Our office remains closed for inside visits and meetings but Stacey Klim is at the office on Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for visitors to pick up Democratic gear (yard signs, bumper stickers, etc.) and to conduct other essential services.
Democrats coming to the office should knock on the door, social distance, wear a facemask, and provide their own hand sanitizer. Thank you as we continue to look after the safety of our fellow Democrats.
NOTE: We are currently out of Yard Signs but hope to have them in on Friday. Call ahead to be sure.
WAYS TO VOLUNTEER FOR VICTORY
As we get closer to November 3rd, we get busier. We have a great group of regular volunteers, but we need more help! Here are some ways you can help.
Phone Banking/Texting
The Biden campaign is currently phone banking and texting. These calls are “Persuasion Calls”. You will be calling Republicans and No Party voters to persuade them to vote for Joe Biden. If you are interested in volunteering for this, click on the links below, sign up online and the Biden campaign will reach out to you with more details.

We are looking for a dedicated individual who will organize and lead weekly Friday Night Caravans. These car caravans will travel around Indian River County with Democratic and Candidate signage, decorations and flags on their cars. If you are interested in helping to organize these caravans, please email Stacey at [email protected]
Note: These Friday night caravans are in addition to Al Griffiths’ Sunday caravans.

Sign Waving
We are in the midst of organizing weekly sign waving events, but we need YOU to show up. Sign waving with one or two people does not show our support for Democratic candidates. We will be wearing masks and social distancing, but we need a strong showing every week. More details will be forthcoming.
Letters to the Editor
Our local newspaper, TC Palm, accepts letters to the editor from anyone. Wouldn’t you like to see letters from Indian River County residents supporting Biden in the newspaper every day? Well, let’s make it happen! We have 2 more months to share why Biden is the best candidate for the job, so write your letter today!
To submit a Letter to the Editor, go to: https://static.tcpalm.com/forms/?wid=q1jkscld1v7h87e
Yard Signs and Bumper Stickers
Tired of Trump yard signs? Do you live on a well trafficked street? If so, come purchase a Biden/Harris or I Give A Dem yard sign to display in your yard. Or purchase a Biden bumper sticker. We may not outnumber the other party in our county, but we can support our candidates and the Democratic Party!
Call Your Senators
Take a few minutes to call Senators Rubio and Scott regarding two important pieces of legislation.

Poll Watchers
This election season is the most important one many of us have had in our lifetime. The safety and security of our voters is imperative. We must ensure that every vote is counted and valid. One way for us to do that, is to have Democratic Poll Watchers in the voting locations. This is a vital volunteer position. Poll Watchers are needed for early voting (October 19-31) and Election Day (November 3). If you are interested in being a Poll Watcher, there are 2 steps to take.
1. Sign up for the training with the Supervisor of Elections by September 28th. See the flyer below for more information.
2. Once you sign up for the training, send an email to [email protected] to let them know you signed up. You will also need to submit to us your full name, residential address, phone number and date of birth. This information is required by the State for us to submit the necessary paperwork in coordination with our Voter Protection Team.
WE HAVE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES!!!
This November not only will you be voting for a new President, but also local Congressional and State seats.

DEMOCRATS OF INDIAN RIVER POST THEIR TRIBUTES AT THE COVID-19 WALL OF CARING AND REMEMBRANCE
Our website, www.democratsofindianriver.org, now has a new feature: The Covid-19 Wall of Caring and Remembrance. Here you can leave tributes to friends and family you have either lost in the pandemic or are very concerned about during the current health crisis.
The wall is dedicated to the victims of the pandemic. It is our testimony. We know this should never have happened. Because of the lack of leadership from the President on down through the Republican ranks, we have 165,000 American deaths today. We are being touched here in Indian River County, too. Our members, like many in the community, are grieving.
Let’s honor and remember our loved ones. Read the tributes and submit your own. Go to: https://democratsofindianriver.org/covid-19-tributes/
