Lately, it feels like so many people have lost faith in our politics.

It's easy to understand why.

Too often, we see division instead of solutions. Politicians are looking for the next headline instead of the next opportunity to help working families. Powerful interests are looking out for themselves while everyday people are left behind.

That's not why I chose public service.

I ran for Congress because I believed families like mine, the daughter of Mexican immigrants who worked hard to build a better life, deserved a voice in Washington. And that's exactly what has guided me every day since.

I know we won't agree on every issue, but I believe we should always put the interests of our communities ahead of powerful special interests.

That's the kind of leadership I've tried to bring to Congress, and it's the kind of leadership I'll continue fighting for every single day. But I can't do it alone.
