A pristine American backcountry faces down an
environmental crisis

The Boundary Waters is America's most visited Wilderness and must be protected for future generations. This week, NatGeo highlighted the issue of sulfide-ore copper mining on the edge of the Boundary Waters -- thanks to years of partnership between Save the Boundary Waters Policy & Science Director Matt Norton, Campaign Board Chair Becky Rom, and the incredible mapping experts at NatGeo. Emails from U.S. Congressmen expose dirty deal favoring the dangerous Twin Metals mine

We recently learned that Members of Congress, Tom Emmer and Pete Stauber, improperly pressured federal agencies during the renewal of Twin Metals’ mining leases on the doorstep of the Boundary Waters Wilderness. We will not tolerate this act of political interference that puts our iconic Wilderness at risk.

Watch new Boundary Waters film: A Northern Light by Patagonia®️

Patagonia released the third installment of its ongoing "It's All Home Water" series, focusing on the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The short film shows how the fresh water, Wilderness habitat, and sustainable jobs of the Boundary Waters are priceless – but, in peril. Please note: the drone footage in the film was not taken within the Boundaries of the BWCA.

Watch our August town hall
Last month we hosted a virtual town hall with Save the Boundary Waters Chair Becky Rom and Alison Flint, Senior Legal Director at the Wilderness Society. They discussed the six lawsuits working to protect the Wilderness and our strategic, multi-pronged approach to permanent protection for the Boundary Waters.

Join us online for Boundary Waters inspired yoga class this September - led by one of our Volunteer Ambassadors, Stephanie Vos. This is a great opportunity to reconnect within yourself and the Boundary Waters community as well.

Representatives, along with all who are running for office, need to hear your voice in order to make the right decisions about the Boundary Waters.
