Cori Bush for Congress

John — two days ago, rent was due.

Since the start of the pandemic, thousands of people have been evicted. Tens of millions have faced eviction. But we still haven't canceled rent.

My friend, Rep. Ilhan Omar, introduced a bill to cancel rent — but it's been sitting in committee since April. We've known about this problem since March.

Clearly, we need more voices in Washington who will take up this fight to keep people in their homes. Will you make a gift to make sure I will be one of those voices?

And, John, don't be fooled by the national eviction moratorium.

With 51 million people unemployed — and no second relief bill in sight — we can't just provide more time to cover months of missed rent. That only delays the problem until the end of the year.

And that moratorium does nothing to help those thousands of people who have already been evicted.

If we're not going to help people actually pay their rent, then we need to cancel it. This isn't a new or radical idea — but it's one that needs our support if we're going to make it reality.

In Congress, I will keep up the fight to cancel rent and keep people in their homes. Your gift today will help me register and turn out the votes that will get me to Congress, so please give what you can spare.

In solidarity,

Cori Bush
