Ed Markey’s win this week locks in our final victory of the primary season and stands as a shining example of the power of our shared vision of the future. In the next 60 days leading up to the general election, we’ve got the opportunity to spread that truth and transform American politics forever.

There are millions of us, no matter what we look like or where we’re from, who believe that working people deserve unions and living wages, who know that everyone should have a comfortable, stable place to live, who will fight for community care programs that will keep us safe, and who are hungry for a Green New Deal that will tackle the climate crisis while making society more fair and just in the process.

But there are politicians who act on greed, who only care about appeasing their wealthy donors. They have ignored the pain and suffering of everyday people during a global pandemic, refusing to secure our paychecks, homes, and healthcare. They do nothing as police target and kill Black people. They try to divide and scare us into silence by sending federal forces into our communities, stopping people from protesting, and provoking aggression.

With the general election coming up, they hope we will turn on each other instead of holding them accountable for their corruption and their failure to ensure we have the care, security, and support we need during this pandemic and beyond.

By joining together—Black, brown, and white—to organize and demand the change we need, we’ll make our voices heard in record numbers on the streets and our votes. If each and every one of us shows up to vote , we can remove the corrupt from power, replace them with representatives who will be held accountable to us, and transform our government into one that works for all of us.
