Do you know the difference between donating directly to a campaign and the millions of dollars that outside groups can dump into an election?
Campaign finance laws can get confusing pretty quickly, so let me make it simple.

When you donate directly to our campaign:
* There are strict limits on how much you can give โ
* We have to disclose our donors and report our finances ๐
* Your money helps pay for organizers, field offices, campaign materials, TV ads, and everything else it takes to run this campaign ๐บ
* And when you see one of our ads, I have to put my name on it and tell you I approved it.
Outside groups play by a very different set of rules:
* They can raise and spend virtually unlimited amounts ๐ธ
* They can spend money without revealing the donors behind it ๐
* They can spend millions attacking a candidate without that candidate approving a thing
* Ads not made or approved by the candidate
* And Supreme Court decisions like Citizens United helped unleash a flood of outside money into our elections ๐ก
I believe that system is broken.
Working people shouldn't have to wonder which billionaire or special interest is secretly bankrolling the political ads flooding their televisions.
And billionaires shouldn't get a bigger say in our government just because they can write bigger checks.
Thatโs one of the reasons Iโm running for Senate.
Pete Ricketts is a billionaire. Iโm an industrial mechanic. He has a family fortune to fall back on. I have people like you.
And I wouldn't trade places with him.
If you agree that it's time to get big money and dark money out of our politics, will you pitch in $5 or whatever you can afford to help us beat billionaire Pete Ricketts and send a working-class independent to the U.S. Senate? [[link removed]?]
