Two weeks ago, we launched our Real Rent Control campaign with a Yes on C! Kick Off Rally. Thanks to all that helped make it happen, and for those folks who couldn't make it: we aren't done yet!
After collecting over 44,000 signatures to qualify Measure C and defeating real estate shill Councilor Steve Hansen, we are ready to do what it takes to win real rent control for every Sacramentan!
The task is monumental, but the Bernie and Katie Valenzuela campaigns have prepared us for this moment. The time is now to train hundreds of volunteers and turn them loose to spread our message.
We are organized and we will win!

Also coming up is our chapter's first local convention on Sept. 20th! Make sure to be register before Sept. 7th! Registration details below.
The purpose of the local convention is to deliberate, debate, and ultimately democratically decide the direction the chapter will go for the next year of organizing. We will also be electing our chapter leadership for the 2020-2021 term and deciding our political endorsements for local and statewide political office.

Sept. 10: DSA Night School- "We Want the Airwaves: From Pirate Radio to Low-Power FM"
Our first class looks at the insurgent commandeers of the airwaves who have tried to win back control of this popular medium: From Black Liberation Radio, to women’s radio, to a broad spectrum of popular and anti-commercial voices.
In recent years, radio activists have been successful in opening up the airwaves to thousands of new radio stations, through the implementation of Low-Power FM. The history of these recent victories will be explained, together with how we the community can gain access to the airwaves.

Sept. 12: Phonebank for Prop. 15
Join Sacramento, Yolo, and UC Davis YDSA chapters to make calls to voters in support of Prop 15- The Schools and Communities First Act
Billionaires and corporations in California have exploited a lucrative property tax loophole created by Proposition 13 since 1978. Prop 15 will put an end to this and generate $10-12 BILLION for California's chronically underfunded public schools and community services. Join us and together we can #TaxTheRich!

Sept. 12: SacDSA Convention Forum
Meet the members running for leadership positions within the chapter and talk with candidates for local office who are seeking our chapter's endorsement. We will be also be talking about state wide propositions like Prop 22! Please join us for this important discussion in the lead up to the convention. Voting will take place at the convention on Sept. 20th.

Sept. 20: Chapter Convention
Our local convention will be Sunday September 20th from 11 AM to 3:30 (with breaks!) and open to all dues-paying members. We’ll be voting on chapter leadership, bylaw amendments and political resolutions for our chapter that will guide us into the next year.
In order to attend, you must register. On the registration page, you’ll also find the full convention packet which includes: resolutions & amendments, bylaw amendments, draft convention rules, and Executive Board candidates.

Mutual Aid Opportunity- Sac SOUP As socialists, we must begin to build the world we want while fighting against our class, racial, and other oppressions. Sac SOUP (Solidarity of Unhoused People) is looking for supplies to aid our unhoused neighbors amid the concurrent climate, pandemic, and racist crises this capitalism system has led us to.
