Over one year after the Trump administration officially shuttered USAID,
communities around the world are still feeling the consequences. Families have
lost access to critical healthcare, food assistance, and clean water—lifesaving
support meant to stop crises before they spiral out of control.Decisions being

We’re already seeing the cost of these cuts. The current Ebola outbreak in the
Democratic Republic of Congo could rival the worst on record—and is a stark
reminder that without strong global health systems, outbreaks spread faster and
become more deadly. As Oxfam’s Country Director in the DRC warns, aid cuts have
left the country “effectively blind to Ebola,” weakening the surveillance
systems that could have detected this outbreak weeks earlier.
