As Board Chair of Physicians for Reproductive Health, I’m absolutely delighted to share with you that Dr. Jamila Perritt has accepted the position of President and CEO effective September 21, 2020. Read our full statement here.
She brings her experience as an ob/gyn providing full spectrum reproductive health care including abortion care, a long history of advocating for reproductive health, rights, and justice, and her expertise and lived experiences in reproductive justice. She has a deep understanding of the value of our programs as a past fellow in our Leadership Training Academy.
Building on the work we as an organization have been doing and adding the new expertise and experience of Dr. Perritt in the reproductive justice movement, we aim to deepen our intentional use of reproductive justice as a lens to guide our work, carefully address the ways that white supremacy and racism impact access to care, and support a future of reproductive health care free from all barriers.
Dr. Perritt shares on her new role:
“It is an honor to join Physicians for Reproductive Health as the organization’s second President and CEO in its 28-year history. I look forward to bringing my passion for reproductive justice and experiences in providing abortion and contraceptive care to the important advocacy work of Physicians for Reproductive Health. Working with our staff, Board of Directors, networks, and many partner organizations, we envision a future where every person can live their best life and make the decision to have children, not have children, and parent their children in thriving and safe communities.”
Dr. Perritt’s leadership follows 25 years of guidance and growth under founding President and CEO Jodi Magee, and we wish Jodi the very best in her retirement.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing a number of exciting opportunities for you to get to know Dr. Perritt and her vision for Physicians. She’ll also be joining us as a special guest at our Voices of Courage Benefit on September 14.
