Dear Friend,
Because of your interest in and support of our ongoing response to the coronavirus pandemic, I wanted to give you exclusive access to this special edition of Alert, our quarterly magazine, dedicated to the MSF nurses and midwives working on the front lines. This is a special opportunity to access a benefit normally reserved for our monthly donors.
COVID-19 is taking a disproportionately heavy toll on people who were already vulnerable before the pandemic, particularly those who struggle to access or afford medical care, here in the US and around the world. The elderly, homeless, forcibly displaced, or those living on the move are all at a greater risk of contracting and suffering serious cases of COVID-19. And it is the incredible support of our monthly donors that have made our rapid and continued response to this pandemic possible.
Will you step up to become a monthly donor and join our Field Partner program today? You’ll receive special access to exclusive events, offers, and important updates from our programs in more than 70 countries around the world. You’ll also receive Alert, our quarterly magazine featuring powerful stories and photography of your support in action.
Setting up your monthly gift only takes a moment and will provide dependable support to our patients through every emergency to come.
Thank you so much for your dedication to this work.
Sincerely,
Melanie Sovern
Field Partner Program Manager

Subject: MSF nurses and midwives share their stories
As summer comes to a close, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact us all—our families, our friends, our communities, and, of course, the people we serve. In many of the countries where we work, medical services have been disrupted by COVID-19, with health staff, facilities, and other resources diverted to the pandemic response, making it more difficult to access other essential services.
We are adapting to meet the extraordinary challenges presented by COVID-19 while fighting to sustain our lifesaving medical projects and care for the tens of thousands of patients with other urgent needs. That’s why we wanted to share this special issue of Alert with you.
In the latest issue of Alert, we pay tribute to all the determined, hard-working nurses and midwives around the world. We’re raising up the profiles and voices of the nurses and midwives leading vital efforts to strengthen infection prevention and control measures, expanding health promotion activities, and testing and supporting the people who need them most. We also share an in-depth look at the stark racial disparities in health care, and why we’ve decided to launch temporary operations in the US in response to the unprecedented needs around the COVID-19 pandemic. Read this special issue of Alert
to learn more.
Your support is why MSF teams are able to respond to this and other emergencies. Thank you for being a vital part of our global movement to provide urgent medical care where it is needed most.
