This week marks the 91st anniversary of Social Security.

When President Franklin Roosevelt signed Social Security into law, he called it "sound, needed and patriotic legislation." Nearly a century later, those words ring just as true.

Social Security represents a promise: if you work hard and do your part, America will keep its word.

But the Trump administration has put that promise at risk.

They've gutted staff at the Social Security Administration and shuttered field offices, making it harder for seniors and people with disabilities to access the benefits they've earned. They've also mishandled the sensitive data of millions of Americans, undermining trust in one of our nation's most vital programs.

Social Security is a lifeline for more than 166,000 people in our district.
