We are excited to share the firsthttps://democrats.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/WWC-Partner-Update.pdf3-month progress report ([link removed]) for When We Count, the DNC’s national partisan voter registration initiative launched in May 2026.
The Democratic Party faced a critical voter registration deficit, losing 2.1 million voters between 2020 and 2024 while Republicans gained 2.4 million. When We Count was launched to reverse this trend by training a new generation of organizers to directly recruit and register Democrats nationwide.
OUR IMPACT
Our youth fellowship pilot in Arizona targeted key congressional districts (AZ-01, AZ-02, and AZ-06) to close critical voter gaps:
38 Fellows Recruited: 40% are non-college youth, 38% are Native Spanish speakers, and the average fellow age is 21.
2,500+ Voters Registered: 82% registered directly as Democrats.

Reaching Key Communities: 87% of registered voters are under 35, 58% identify as people of color, and 45% identify as Latino.
Talent Pipeline: 7 fellows have already been hired into full-time organizing roles on the Arizona Coordinated Campaign.
KEY LEARNINGS DRIVING RESULTS
1. Rigorous Partisan Training: Equipping organizers to screen for political preference and openly invite voters to join the Democratic Party drives high partisan registration rates.
2. Meeting Voters Where They Are: Targeting high-density gatherings, such as FIFA World Cup watch parties and community college orientations, reaches key unregistered populations.
3. Sustained Follow-Up: Early engagement post-registration builds lasting relationships that translate registrations into votes on Election Day.
ROAD TO ELECTION DAY & NATIONAL SCALING
* Arizona Target: Expand by hiring +40 new fellows by September 1 to reach 10,000+ new voters registered by the October 5 deadline.
* National Expansion: Trained over 1,500 grassroots volunteers across 47 states through a 4-part national training series.
* Mobilization: Deployed 80+ voter registration ambassadors across 31 states during the World Cup Final, with two additional national weeks of action scheduled before Election Day.
