Across Georgia, school buses are back on the road, classrooms are filling with eager students, and teachers are once again preparing to inspire the next generation. A new school year always brings excitement, opportunity, and the promise of a fresh start.
Education has long been one of the greatest investments we can make, not only in our children, but in the future of our communities, our workforce, and our state. Every lesson taught, every skill learned, and every milestone achieved helps prepare Georgia's students to become tomorrow's leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and public servants.
Our state is home to some of the nation's finest educators, administrators, and school staff who work tirelessly to create safe, supportive learning environments where students can grow and succeed. Their dedication often extends far beyond the classroom, and they deserve our gratitude for the countless hours they devote to helping young Georgians reach their full potential.
Success in education is also a team effort. Parents, grandparents, mentors, coaches, and volunteers all play an important role in encouraging students and reinforcing the values of hard work, curiosity, and perseverance. Together, they help lay the foundation for lifelong success.
As another school year begins, I wish every student the confidence to embrace new challenges, every teacher the encouragement they deserve, and every administrator and school employee a safe, successful year ahead.

Tuesday, August 4, 2026: Yesterday, I was live on Washington Watch with Tony Perkins as I joined guest host Jody Hice to discuss news of the day. Jody and I entered Congress together back in 2015. A true conservative evangelical in every sense of the word, Jody and I remain good friends today. Tony Perkins is the President of the Family Research Council (FRC), a prominent conservative public policy organization that sponsors Washington Watch, a daily media program covering national news, public policy, and legislative updates from a traditional, conservative Christian perspective. During the interview, Jody and I discussed the budget continuing resolution (CR) that we passed out of the House and that is now in the Senate, the rise of the Democratic Socialists of America movement and my recent op ed in the Washington Times regarding fraudsters stealing from taxpayers. I’m headed to Athens in Clarke County in Northeast Georgia today and during the drive join in on our all staff conference call as well as have a call with a constituent regarding the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA). Once in Athens, I join the Georgia Chamber of Commerce for a reception before their annual meeting tomorrow.

Wednesday, August 5, 2026: I’m up early this morning and live on Fox Business’ Mornings with Maria as we discuss news of the day including the budget CR, Reconciliation 3.0 and the rise of the Democratic Socialists of America movement. Later in the day, I attend the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s annual congressional meeting where we hear from the Democratic and Republican candidates for Governor, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and businessman Rick Jackson. We also hear from congressional candidates from across the State including Dr. Jasmine Clark, Candidate for GA-13, Dr. John Cowan, Candidate for GA-11, Houston Gaines, Candidate for GA-10 and Jim Kingston, Candidate for GA-1. Finally, we enjoy a fireside chat with outgoing Governor Brian Kemp that is moderated by Chamber President Chris Clark. Later, in the afternoon, I head to the opening of the 10th District Republican headquarters in downtown Athens where we hear from Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson.

Thursday, August 6, 2026: After traveling from Athens to St. Simons Island last night, I’m on the road again as I head to Musella in Crawford County for the 16th Annual Peaches and Politics with my good friend, Chairman Robert Dickey (R-Musella). Rep. Dickey is chair of the Agriculture Committee in the Georgia House of Representatives and does an outstanding job representing Georgia’s largest industry. He is also the owner of Dickey Farms that was founded in 1897 with a historic peach packing house built in 1936, famous for fresh produce and delicious peach ice cream. With a population estimated to be 104, the unincorporated community of Muscella is said to have derived its name by combining “Mose” and “Ella”, the supposed names of two early settlers. Located in central Georgia just west of Macon, Crawford County was created in 1822 and named for U. S. Statesman and Treasury Secretary William H. Crawford. After a great event, I head to the Atlanta airport for a flight back to Washington.

Congress is preparing to return to Washington with a full legislative agenda, including funding the government, supporting our military, securing the border, and protecting taxpayer dollars. As lawmakers work to keep the government open and advance key priorities, House Republicans remain focused on responsible governance, fiscal discipline, and delivering results for the American people.
Healthcare fraud continues to cost taxpayers billions of dollars while putting some of America's most vulnerable patients at risk. Stronger safeguards are needed to prevent fraud, hold states accountable, and recover every taxpayer dollar lost through abuse of federal healthcare programs.
