Our internal polling has this two-person race within the margin of error 44%-40%.

Independent reporters who've looked at the head-to-head — not our campaign, outside writers — have described this race as within the margin now that it's one-on-one. My problem was never that South Dakotans prefer Mike Rounds. It's that most of them don't know my name yet.

When they hear both stories side by side, this is a coin flip.

Rounds knows it too. That's why his team didn’t want this to turn into a one v. one race. And it’s why his most senior advisors are posting like lunatics online about it.

Here is the plain truth about who I am: an independent, a veteran, a gun owner, and a South Dakota first. But the truth doesn't run itself on television. It costs money. And let me tell you, Rounds’ attacks will have millions behind it.
