In just over a week, voters will cast their ballots in California’s final congressional special election before the midterms.

And with Republican control of Congress hanging by a thread, every single seat matters at a time like this.

When this special election in CA-14 was announced, we had a choice.

We could treat it as an interruption and hope for the best. Or we could recognize it as an opportunity to strengthen Democrats’ path to the House majority – and get to work.

We chose to organize.

California Democrats have been talking to voters, supporting volunteers, and building the turnout operation needed to compete. But this election was not part of our original plan or budget, and the final days are some of the most expensive.

There are no practice runs in a special election. No extra week to reach one more voter. No second chance to increase turnout after the ballots are cast.

Right now, voters still need to be contacted. Volunteers still need resources. And every part of our turnout operation must be ready before August 18th, not the morning after.
