John,
Thursday marked 61 years since the Voting Rights Acts became law in our country – expanding the fundamental right to vote to all American citizens regardless of their skin color.
Today, the right to vote is still under attack – now at the hands of the Trump Administration. The GOP is trying to pass legislation, the SAVE Act, that would make it harder for millions of Americans to vote.
It is already illegal for noncitizens to participate in our elections. If passed, voting would require proof of citizenship to vote with specific documents including a birth certificate or passport that must match photo ID.
Here’s the issue: untold millions of Americans – anyone who has changed their name or doesn't have access to these documents, for example – would be forced to pay fees and wait weeks to get certified copies to vote.
I'm calling it out for what it is: The SAVE Republicans Act.
These attacks are real. If you're with me, chip in $3 to help us flip the House and hold the Trump Administration accountable.
Thank you,
Mike
