Hey there,
I’m Matt Caffrey, Swing Left’s Senior Director of Organizing. My favorite
program we’ve run over the past several years is our bus program, which
helps volunteers in major cities like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco
get out to target states and districts to canvass.
Since 2018, we have helped thousands of volunteers go knock on more than
half a million doors for Democrats across the country.
This year’s bus program is supercharged by Ground Truth, Swing Left’s
innovative deep-listening program where voters knock on every door in a
neighborhood to have substantive conversations—often finding persuadable
voters that traditional campaigns miss.
And I’ve got exciting news: We’re working to launch our bus program
earlier than ever this year by sending buses out at the end of the month,
including a bus from New York to Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional
District.
Each bus costs about $3,000, and we have a goal of having 3 buses locked
in by our next Weekend of Action on August 28th and 29th.

The swing districts and states volunteers are signing up to talk with
voters in are where the midterm election will be won or lost, and every
bus we put on the road means more doors knocked, more voters reached, and
more meaningful conversations had before Election Day.
Ground Truth volunteers are ready to spend their free time knocking on
doors to rebuild trust in Democrats and flip the House and Senate this
November, but we need help physically getting volunteers to the locations
they’re needed most!

In the 2022 midterms, the generous support of grassroots donors funding
the bus program made it possible for Swing Left volunteers to knock on
nearly 150,000 doors during the last weekend before Election Day. Each
voter these volunteers spoke to may have cast the deciding vote in
critical midterm elections, as will be the case once again this year.
So if you aren’t able to get on the doors yourself, donating to fund this
program is one of the highest-impact actions you can take right now to
help us get more volunteers to the doors in the locations where they
