A year ago, Democrats needed a lot to go right just to have a shot at 4 seats. Now, thanks to strong recruitment and candidates who are outperforming expectations at the ballot box and in fundraising, that number could be as high as 8.

Here's how Sen. Blunt Rochester broke it down:

* Hold : Jon Ossoff is running a strong campaign, but Georgia is still a purple state. Every vote counts.
* Hold : New Hampshire looks safely blue on paper, but Sen. Maggie Hassan won by just 1,017 votes last time.
* Flip : Roy Cooper is making North Carolina's race about one thing: making stuff cost less.
* Flip : Sherrod Brown is known and trusted across Ohio.
* Flip : Mary Peltola has already run and won statewide in Alaska before, and she's not taking anything for granted.
* Flip : Josh Turek is a strong candidate that’s putting Iowa in play.
* Flip : Troy Jackson is making Maine a real opportunity for Democrats this cycle.
* Flip : James Talarico rounds out the list of real opportunities with strong fundraising and polling numbers.

Meanwhile, Republican Senate candidates have nothing to offer voters but a failed, toxic agenda that's gutted health care and driven costs through the roof.
