Dear Friend,

A year ago, 76 senators from both parties voted to close the loophole that flooded America with kid-friendly hemp THC products, and President Trump signed the ban into law. Today, under pressure from the hemp industry and the White House, the Senate voted to delay that ban until December 11. That means these dangerous, intoxicating products stay on store shelves and within reach of our kids for five more months.

This fight is far from over, and that is thanks to leaders who refused to blink. We are grateful to Senators Ted Budd, Pete Ricketts, Tom Cotton, Kristin Gillibrand, and the other co-sponsors, who fought to stop this deal. We also thank Senator Katie Britt and others who took courageous votes of conscience for families over profits. They understood exactly what was at stake: the health of America's families over the corporate balance sheets of the people selling THC candies. Their courage is why we still have a path to victory.

The rest of the story is harder to stomach. The Trump Administration and Senate leadership caved. They chose gas station weed over our kids, keeping products on shelves they would never want their own children to buy, use, or bring home.

Over the next five months, SAM and our partners will make sure voters in every state know exactly who chose to protect gas station THC over their own children. The senators who allowed this delay will hear from parents, from law enforcement, in their local newspapers, and in their own backyards until this ban takes effect.

December 11 is coming, and we will be counting the days and the votes.
