| | John,
Let me get this straight.
If you want to walk into one of Zohran Mamdani's brand-new, taxpayer-funded, city-run grocery stores in New York and buy a gallon of milk, a dozen eggs, or a loaf of bread — you'd better have your ID ready. No exceptions. City Hall wants to make sure only "eligible" New Yorkers are getting that subsidized cereal.
But if you want to walk into a polling place and pick the next Mayor of New York City, or a Senator, or a President? Don't you dare ask for ID. According to the same crowd running those grocery stores, that's "voter suppression." That's "Jim Crow 2.0." That's supposedly a five-alarm assault on democracy itself.
So let's tally the scorecard:
Gallon of milk? ID, please. Carton of eggs? ID, please. Bag of rice? ID, please. Picking the person who runs your city, your state, your country? Eh, don't worry about it.
You cannot make this up. Zohran Mamdani and his allies will demand your papers before you leave with groceries, but they'll fight tooth and nail to make sure nobody ever has to prove who they are before casting a ballot. If an ID is good enough to keep the shelves stocked for "eligible" residents, it is certainly good enough to keep our elections honest.
This isn't a gotcha. It's the whole game. The left doesn't oppose ID requirements because ID requirements are unreasonable — they use ID requirements every single day, for groceries, for boarding a plane, for picking up a prescription, for entering a federal building. They oppose voter ID because they know exactly what secure elections would mean for their political prospects.
That's precisely why I introduced the SAVE America Act — to require the same basic, common-sense proof of identity for voting that Mamdani's own government now requires for buying a carton of milk. If it's good enough for groceries, it's good enough for the ballot box.
We are close. But the Left is throwing everything they have at stopping this bill, because they know that secure elections and socialist double standards cannot coexist.
I need your help right now to keep the pressure on the Senate and get the SAVE America Act across the finish line.
Chip in $25, $50, or whatever you can today — and let's make sure that in America, your vote is at least as protected as a gallon of milk.
Fighting for you,
Senator Mike Lee
