I believe it is of utmost importance that we support our men and women in law enforcement at all levels of government--local, state and federal. Every day, a law enforcement officer walks out the door of his home not knowing if he will return that evening. Law enforcement is a dangerous job, and we as citizens are dependent on skilled officers to protect our communities and maintain a civil society.

Recent civil disobedience across our country has put our law enforcement at a very high level of risk, both personally and professionally. I adamantly oppose the current move to defund our police. As a core function of government, I believe that our law enforcement departments must be funded, trained and prepared with the tools and technology needed to effectively serve our communities.

My campaign has organized eight rallies across the 5th District to show support for our officers, and I hope you will join us at one or more of them. It is up to each of us to let our officers know how much we appreciate the hard work they do every day. These rallies will let our important public servants know that we have their backs!
