Six weeks ago, the Supreme Court ruled that birthright citizenship is a constitutional guarantee. One hundred and fifty years of settled law. Trump lost, and the decision was clear.

Trump didn’t care.

Yesterday, he signed two new executive orders trying to strip citizenship from American-born children anyway. 

Because when Trump doesn't like a rule, he finds a workaround. When a court stops him, he looks for another door. He’s spent his entire life cheating the system. Now he just does it from the Oval Office.

The courts will block these orders. They always do. But that's not the point. The point is that he keeps signing them. He keeps testing the walls. He keeps asking: what happens if I just don't stop?

We know what happens. He keeps going. And if Republicans in Congress let him go on long enough, he finally gets his way. 

This November, we have the chance to put a check on a president who has decided he is above the law. But that only happens if we fight like it matters. Because it does.
