Dear Friend,
Whether it’s Somali gang violence or criminal illegal aliens, our law enforcement officers face an uphill battle in Minnesota. Governor Walz and his administration’s policies favor criminals over cops, and the results have been disastrous.
Thankfully, the Wright and Stearns County Sheriff’s Offices were just awarded much-needed funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program – funding that we’ve been advocates of for several years. The program was created in memory of New York City Police Officer Edward Byrne, who was shot and killed by a gang member when he was only 22 years old while sitting in his patrol car. The Wright and Stearns County Sheriff’s Offices will be able to tailor this funding to best fit their public safety needs and combat the Walz administration’s soft-on-crime agenda.
This is a step in the right direction when it comes to restoring law and order in our state. For too long, law enforcement has been underfunded and overworked. Because of woke prosecutors who refuse to prosecute crime, we have far too many criminals on our streets and officers are overextended and often running on fumes. Fortunately, funding like this will provide them with meaningful support and make all the difference in their service from day to day.
Minnesota is home to the best peace officers in the nation and ensuring they have the resources they desperately need will always be one of my top priorities.
We have a long way to go, but it’s great to see funding like this awarded to the well-deserving men and women who put their lives on the line to keep us safe each and every day.
