Paige here — I wanted to tell you about why I ran for mayor of Scranton. It’s an important part of my story, and key to understanding how this race will decide the future of NEPA.

I ran for mayor because I couldn’t raise my family in a place where government corruption is okay. Corruption was not a theory here; the last Mayor was indicted for extortion. Enough was enough.

That’s why I ran as an Independent and launched the campaign that became known as Paige Against the Machine. I left labels at the door because this was never about party politics. It was about cleaning up a system that rewarded cronies, hid waste, and put private gain ahead of the public good.

I ran to make government work for our kids, our families, and our small businesses, not for insiders.

Running against the local machine was hard. It meant standing up to powerful interests and to people who expected the status quo to continue. But I believed then, as I believe now, that we deserve leaders who are accountable, honest, and focused on results.

We won because people across our city decided they had had enough. They wanted a government that was practical, not transactional.

If you believe our public institutions should serve the public, not the powerful, I hope you’ll stand with me as we keep building that vision in Congress.
