Being a senator was never my dream, y'all.

I never wanted to run for office until I realized how broken the political system was -- when I was working to open ground combat roles to women and couldn't get a meeting with the very people in Washington who were supposed to represent me.

Sen. Cornyn stopped understanding what Texans were going through the minute he stopped listening to us.

I'm a fighter, a veteran, and a working mom. I get what this pandemic is putting families through right now because it's what my family is going through. My husband and I had to make a big decision. My oldest son was so excited for his first day of kindergarten, to meet all his new friends, to start a new adventure -- but Brandon and I had to make sure he's safe. Instead of going into school and seeing all of his friends, he'll be doing his first days of school online.

Sen. Cornyn isn't listening to Texas families worried for their kids' safety. He's carelessly misleading families just like mine, suggesting that we don't know whether kids can get COVID-19. That's unacceptable, and we need to defeat him in November. Can I count on your help?

We deserve a leader who understands what Texas families are going through.
