In 1870, Wellesley College opened its doors with a singular mission:
to educate women who would go on to make a difference in the world.

For 150 years, that mission held. Wellesley became one of the "Seven
Sisters" – a group of elite colleges built to give women the
education men had long denied them.

Then, in 2015, Wellesley quietly changed the rules...

THE COLLEGE NOW ADMITS ANYONE WHO "IDENTIFIES AND LIVES AS A WOMAN,"
INCLUDING MALES.

This means that university policy is for men who identify as women to
share intimate spaces like restrooms and locker rooms as well as dorm
rooms with female students, without their consent or knowledge.

I'm Nicole Neily, founder and president of Defending Education. We
investigate what's actually happening inside schools and universities,
and when the facts warrant it, we take legal action.

On June 25th, we filed a federal civil rights complaint against
Wellesley College, alleging clear violations of Title IX. The law is
not ambiguous on the point that _schools that receive federal funds
and claim single-sex status have to actually operate as single-sex
institutions_. 

WELLESLEY DOES NOT, AND IT STILL ACCEPTS ROUGHLY $12 MILLION A YEAR IN
FEDERAL SUPPORT WHILE IT LOOKS THE OTHER WAY.

Wellesley’s decision underscores the ultimate irony of the modern
gender movement: universities originally formed to empower women have
made the conscious decision to prioritize men.

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME WE'VE CAUGHT A "SEVEN SISTER" SCHOOL
ABANDONING THE WOMEN IT WAS BUILT TO SERVE.

Last year, we filed a nearly identical complaint against Smith
College. The Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights opened
an investigation into Smith earlier this year.

DEFENDING EDUCATION IS ONE OF THE FEW ORGANIZATIONS THAT READS THE
FINE PRINT OF THESE ADMISSIONS POLICIES, DOCUMENTS VIOLATIONS, AND
PRESENTS THEM TO FEDERAL REGULATORS.

That is how a policy change becomes an investigation.
