Mark told me I could reach out to you directly about a bill we're working on together: the PAID Act—the Promoting Authenticity with Influencer Disclaimers Act.

 

More Americans than ever get their news and political information from social media and creators. It’s imperative that our laws keep pace with the way campaigns are engaging online, and ensure full transparency for voters.

 

And right now, influencers are far too often presenting sponsored political content as their own personal opinions. But behind closed doors, they’re being compensated on behalf of a campaign or interest group. 

 

Voters deserve transparency  – which is exactly what the PAID Act would fix.

 

Mark and I believe the rules should be simple: if someone is being paid by a political campaign to influence voters, the public deserves to know.
