For the first time in months, there is a real opening to end this disastrous war.
Reports that Iran and Oman are nearing an arrangement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and that President Trump pulled back from a major planned escalation, suggest that diplomacy may once again be gaining ground. We've seen promising openings collapse before under pressure from those who continue to insist there is a military solution. There isn't. This moment must be protected, not sabotaged.
Now is the time to make sure Congress does its part. As lawmakers return home for the August recess, they'll be hearing from lobbyists and war advocates pushing for more funding to continue this illegal conflict. They need to hear something louder from their own constituents: no more war, no more blank checks, and no more funding for a conflict that has already taken far too many lives.

July 31, 2026 – Iran executed two more protesters convicted in the high-profile “Alikhani Square” case, bringing the total to four executions tied to the January 2026 protests. While authorities maintain the convictions were supported by substantial evidence, human rights organizations, UN experts, and families of the accused have raised serious concerns about due process, alleging coerced confessions, torture, denial of independent legal counsel, and unfair trials. Several more defendants remain on death row, prompting renewed calls for Iran to halt further executions and uphold its international human rights obligations.
