We're creating a new team of supporters and Governor Newsom hopes you'll say you want to be a part of it. But first, we want to be upfront that it's different from anything most campaigns and organizations have done before.
Here's the idea:
This is a "digital" effort designed to help elect Democrats and spread the word about the work Gavin Newsom is doing. But instead of only running ads or posting on our social media channels and hoping it finds the right people, we're asking you to carry a message — in your own words — into the group chats and online communities you're already part of. The neighborhood thread, your Instagram, the alumni Facebook group, the family text chain.
A lot of those spaces aren't political at all. That's the point. They're full of people we have no other way to reach: not on our lists, not clicking our ads, not following anyone's campaign account. The person already in that room is the only one who can get a message in, and the only one who knows how to say it so it doesn't feel out of place.
So the task isn't forwarding talking points or propaganda. It's taking what we send you and translating it for people you understand better than we do.
That matters especially for the arguments we care about most. This new team -- we'll call it a Digital Team -- is another way to reach people. And for a lot of them, the only way.
